Born in Nice in 1975, Philippe Nigro studied decorative arts and product design in Antibes, Lyon and Paris. in 1999 he relocated to Milan, where he collaborated on a wide range of projects by Michele De Lucchi, setting the foundation for his evolution as a multifaceted designer. Philippe Nigro designs furniture and lighting, as well as scenographies and exhibition booths. He also stages installations and develops exhibition designs. His approach is characterised by prescient market research and a deep-seated respect for his clients’ own savoir-faire. Nigro moves between projects of varying scale, designing both for premium brands as well as local artisans. The blend of French and Italian culture that he embodies is clearly reflected in his design signature.
Philippe Nigro was awarded Designer of the Year in 2014 by Maison & Objet and works with manufacturers such as Alias, Ligne Roset, Skitsch, Serralunga, Artuce, Foscarini, DePadova, Baccarat, Moleskine, Driade, Rado, Lexus and Hermès.
A number of his designs are featured in the collections of the Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
In Wittmann, Nigro sees a brand that expresses a certain poetry while conveying an opulent and austere, yet modern, comfortable and warm aesthetic. A company that while participating in a dialogue with the past is very much engaged with the future. And it is this dichotomy that inspires the designer to create his contemporary yet timeless designs for Wittmann.
